Oranganisations you must contact when starting your business
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC)
You must register:
- Within three months of trading. If you do not register you will incur a fine.
- If your expected turnover exceeds the threshold for VAT (64,000) need to register for VAT

Insurance Broker
For advice on which insurances your business require
- If you will be employing staff you will need employers liability insurance.
- Health and Safety
- Will provide you with advice and information
- If you are setting up a factory or workshop you may need to register with HSE

Local Authority
- Prior to starting trading check if you need to register with them
- Check to see if you require any licence
- For planning permission or alterations to the business property
- You can also register for business rates
Bank
- Make sure business accounts are set up
- Loans and overdrafts are arranged prior to starting
Solicitor
- If you set up as a partnership a solicitor will draw up an official deed of partnership.
- Advise you on the legal aspect of setting up a business
Accountant
- Advise on taxation issues and financial records
